Alex Weill is an award-winning violinist, recording artist, composer, and contractor, internationally recognized for her work across film, television, touring, and live performance. Trained at The Juilliard School, The Yale School of Music, Vanderbilt University, and Manhattan School of Music, Alex began violin at age three, was accepted into Juilliard Pre-College at eight, and by twelve was performing globally across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia.

A versatile multi-genre artist, Alex has performed and recorded with some of the world's most influential musicians, including Eminem, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Rod Stewart, Pharrell, Jennifer Lopez, Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, Dr. Dre, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Bastille, SZA, Charlie Puth, Doja Cat, Shawn Mendes, Kygo, Hans Zimmer, Philip Glass and many more. Her work spans global tours, albums, feature films, commercials, live broadcasts, and major television appearances. She has appeared in major publications including Vogue, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, MTV, VH1, Huffington Post, and BuzzFeed.

For over a decade, Alex has been a lead violinist for Grammy, Emmy and Tony-winning music director Adam Blackstone, performing regularly on premier stages including The Oscars, The Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Today Show, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. She has headlined major festivals with Eminem across the U.S. and U.K., including Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Firefly Music Festival. Her performances include standout appearances at The Oscars with Eminem, The Met Gala where she was featured on the cover of Vogue.com with Frank Ocean, the PRADA Met Gala pre-show with GIVEON, and with Nas on Rihanna's Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 3 on Amazon Prime.

A highly accomplished and Grammy recognized recording artist, Alex received 3 Grammy certificates for her recording on PJ Morton's Grammy nominated live album Gumbo Unplugged. Their live cover of "How Deep is your Love" by The Bee Gees/PJ Morton ft. Yebba won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance at The 2019 Grammy Awards. In addition, their performance of "First Began" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance. In 2019, Alex was the violinist in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber's Emmy winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, starring John Legend, Sara Bareilles and Alice Cooper. Their live production garnered 13 Emmy Nominations and 5 wins, including an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live). The live special earned Alex her 4th Grammy certificate.

Alex's film and television work includes performing alongside Jennifer Lopez in Marry Me (2022), in the TV series Succession and serving as lead violinist and contractor for the series Expats (starring Nicole Kidman), which earned multiple awards and nominations. In 2025, Alex recorded lead violin for Cynthia Erivo's album I Forgive You and performed on its press tour, debuting on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Today Show. She was also the lead violin soloist for National Geographic's documentary Fly (2024), nominated at SXSW. Her extensive solo lead violinist soundtrack credits include award-winning and festival-recognized films such as The Farewell starring Awkwafina (Golden Globe winner, Oscar shortlist), The Novice (Tribeca winner), and Chinese New Year – Nian (Tribeca X Award), with music by award-winning composer Alex Weston, with whom she has been a longtime collaborator. She has also recorded for major brands including Mercedes-Benz, IBM, Sonos, and Apple.

As a composer and arranger, Alex has created string arrangements for Questlove, The Roots, Solange Knowles, Robert Glasper, Bastille, gnash, Olivia O'Brien, and Kellindo Parker (lead guitarist and co-songwriter for Janelle Monae). She has worked closely with Philip Glass, including recording for the documentary Jane (Hollywood Music in Media Award winner), performing with him live, and leading orchestral recordings and large-scale studio sessions.

Beyond performance, Alex is a dedicated educator and speaker. Since 2013, she has been a guest lecturer at The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU Tisch and delivered a TEDx talk on her transition from classical to contemporary music. She maintains a virtual studio teaching violin and piano, blending the Suzuki Method with improvisation, music theory, composition, production, and multi-genre training.

As a contractor and creative partner, Alex curates and leads world-class musicians for performances, recordings, weddings, and luxury events, offering fully customized musical experiences. She is also deeply committed to community outreach and she uses music as a universal language to spread love, equality, healing, strength and positivity around the world.
